“Khmer Must Be Strong”: A Movement of Vision, Unity, and Regional Impact

At a time when ASEAN is advancing toward deeper economic integration and shared prosperity, Cambodia is shaping its own narrative of strength, resilience, and forward momentum through a powerful national movement: “Khmer Must Be Strong.”

Hosted at the Khemaravidū Building, Royal Academy of Cambodia, the seminar brought together leaders, entrepreneurs, and institutional representatives who share a common belief—that national strength begins with people, vision, and purposeful collaboration.

Her Excellency So Sereyvathana, Founder and Chairwoman of Life Education and a Board Member of the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Association, articulated a message that resonated far beyond the conference hall. She emphasized that Cambodia’s growth cannot occur in isolation; it must be built through regional cooperation, inclusive networks, and strong institutions that align with ASEAN’s collective aspirations.

Across the ASEAN region, dynamic organizations such as the Cambodian Women Entrepreneurs Network (CamWEN), the Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia chaired by Oknha Pech Bolene, and the CEO Master Club—where women represent more than 40 percent of members—and international platforms such as the American Chamber of Commerce are shaping a new generation of leadership. The “Khmer Must Be Strong” movement connects these forces, not as separate entities, but as a unified ecosystem.

At the heart of this movement lies CamWEN’s strategic role as a coordinating gateway—bringing associations together under one platform to represent shared interests and unlock regional opportunities. Through this unified channel, Cambodian entrepreneurs gain access to ASEAN-level exhibitions, policy dialogues, professional seminars, regional meetings, and international trade exchanges. This is not merely networking; it is positioning Cambodia as a confident, capable participant in the regional and global economy.

Yet the movement goes deeper than institutions and markets. Its message is profoundly personal.

A strong nation begins with strong individuals.

Her Excellency reminded participants that true strength starts from within—a strong mindset, a strong family foundation, and a strong commitment to excellence. From there, strength extends outward: into institutions, into products, and into global competitiveness. Cambodian goods and services must not only exist in the market; they must meet international standards, demonstrate quality, and earn trust.

The “Khmer Must Be Strong” movement is, therefore, not a slogan—it is a call to action. A call to build long-term vision rather than short-term gains. A call to prepare Cambodian youth, entrepreneurs, and leaders to stand confidently on the ASEAN and global stage.

The movement is guided by three core principles that define its path forward:

  • Unity – collaboration over fragmentation
  • Standards – quality as a non-negotiable value
  • Capability – skills, competence, and readiness for global competition

Together, these principles form a roadmap for national resilience and regional relevance.

In an era of rapid change and intense competition, “Khmer Must Be Strong” stands as a life-chasing movement—one that urges Cambodians not only to dream, but to prepare; not only to hope, but to build; and not only to participate, but to lead.

Cambodia’s strength is no longer a future ambition.

It is a movement in motion.
