“Khmer Must Be Strong”: A National Call to Rise, Unite, and Rebuild Cambodia’s Global Strength

Phnom Penh, Cambodia — March 24, 2026

On a meaningful afternoon at the Ministry of Tourism of the Kingdom of Cambodia, a powerful message echoed beyond the walls of an official meeting room: Cambodia’s future will not be built by hope alone — it will be built by strength, unity, standards, and capacity.

Under the theme “Khmer Must Be Strong,” leaders from the public sector, representatives of private institutions, experts, entrepreneurs, and members of the business community came together for a discussion that carried a vision far greater than a single event. It was not merely a meeting. It was the beginning of a national awakening.

The discussion was held under the presidency of His Excellency Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism, who warmly welcomed participants and encouraged stronger cooperation in developing Cambodia through tourism, culture, entrepreneurship, and Khmer-made products. His message was clear: Cambodia has the potential to become stronger, more competitive, and more respected — but only when all sectors work together with one shared purpose.

Joining the occasion, Dr. Om Sengbora, Founder of the CEO Institute, led fellow entrepreneurs and members of the CEO Master Club to contribute ideas, share perspectives, and help shape a greater vision for Cambodia’s future. Their participation reflected the growing role of entrepreneurs and private-sector leaders in supporting national development.

At its heart, the “Khmer Must Be Strong” campaign is not just a slogan. It is not a short-term project or a temporary movement. It is a national mission — a call for every Khmer person to rise with courage, discipline, intelligence, unity, and responsibility.

It is a reminder that a nation becomes strong when its people become strong.

Cambodia does not need only physical strength. Cambodia needs mental strength to face challenges, intellectual strength to solve problems, disciplined strength to build standards, technological strength to compete in a changing world, economic strength to create prosperity, and spiritual strength to protect national identity.

This is the deeper meaning of the campaign: to transform the energy, talent, and participation of the Khmer people into a real force for nation-building.

The collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism, the CEO Institute, and relevant institutions aims to strengthen Cambodia’s tourism sector by promoting the country to the world, improving service quality, and creating tourism experiences that are safe, comfortable, joyful, and memorable.

Tourism is more than travel. It is Cambodia’s face to the world. Every hotel, restaurant, guide, product, smile, and service becomes part of the national image. When visitors come to Cambodia, they should not only see temples and landscapes; they should feel the spirit, kindness, creativity, and strength of the Khmer people.

A major focus of the campaign is also the promotion of local products and Khmer-made goods. These products are not just items for sale. They carry identity, craftsmanship, culture, heritage, and national pride.

From handicrafts, food, textiles, clothing, souvenirs, processed goods, and creative services, Khmer products have the power to enter both local and international markets. But to reach that level, Cambodia must work together to improve quality, build standards, support producers, and promote Khmer creations with confidence.

A country becomes stronger when its people believe in what they create.

The campaign stands on three powerful foundations:

Unity — Khmer people must come together, support one another, and grow together.

Standards — Cambodia must build quality systems, reliable services, and trusted products under the name of Khmer excellence.

Capacity — people, businesses, and institutions must be trained and strengthened to compete not only locally, but globally.

In today’s world, competition is no longer between individuals alone. It is between nations, systems, cultures, products, technologies, and ideas. Cambodia may have fewer resources than many countries, but if its people are united, disciplined, skilled, and determined, Cambodia can become a force that cannot be easily ignored.

Cambodia was once a great civilization. It was once a nation known and respected by the world. The spirit that built Angkor has not disappeared. It still lives in the heart of the Khmer people. But that spirit must be awakened, trained, organized, and transformed into modern national power.

Today is the time to reclaim that strength.

Not through words alone, but through action.

Not through pride alone, but through standards.

Not through memory alone, but through capacity.

Not through division, but through unity.

The “Khmer Must Be Strong” campaign reminds every Cambodian that national development is not the responsibility of the government alone. It belongs to everyone — leaders, entrepreneurs, youth, producers, creators, workers, educators, and citizens across the country and around the world.

Only when we are strong will others value us.

Only when we are strong will others not look down on us.

Only when we are strong can we protect, develop, and uplift our nation with pride.

This campaign is more than an invitation. It is a challenge to every Khmer person:

To believe in Cambodia.

To support Khmer products.

To improve Khmer standards.

To build Khmer capacity.

To unite for a stronger future.

Under the powerful motto:

Unity • Standards • Capacity

The message is simple, but deeply meaningful:

Khmer United… Khmer Strong !

And when Khmer people become strong together, Cambodia will rise again — not only as a country of history, but as a nation of future strength, dignity, and global competitiveness.
