Outstanding Young Leader (OYL): Preparing Young Minds to Lead Through Life’s Opportunities and Challenges
Leadership is not simply about being the person in front. It is about developing the mindset, discipline, resilience, and healthy habits needed to face an unpredictable world with confidence.
The Outstanding Young Leader (OYL) Coaching Program at CEO Master Club is designed to help young people discover these qualities early in life. Through engaging activities, interactive games, reflection, and real-life lessons, OYL encourages young participants to think beyond the classroom—to understand themselves, prepare for challenges, make responsible choices, and grow into capable leaders of their own lives.
A Game That Became a Lesson About Life
For Ms. AMLO Laksmy, an OYL member, one of the program’s games was more than entertainment. Behind the excitement and competition was a meaningful realization about the uncertainty of life.
She reflected:
“After playing the game, I felt very happy because there was a lot of competition, which made it even more exciting for all of us. But when I connected the game to real life, I realized that some things depend on chance. Whenever we receive our cards—whether they give us positive points or negative points—we never know when they are going to come.
Life is the same. Sometimes we experience good times, and sometimes we go through difficult times. Therefore, each of us must prepare ourselves and prepare our minds in advance, because we never know when those moments will come. Thank you!”
This simple reflection carries a powerful lesson.
We cannot always choose what happens to us, but we can choose how prepared we are when it happens.
Life does not always give advance notice before opportunity arrives. Neither does it warn us before difficulties appear. There will be moments of achievement and disappointment, certainty and uncertainty, victory and failure.
That is why young people need more than academic knowledge. They need the ability to adapt, remain emotionally prepared, think clearly under pressure, learn from setbacks, and continue moving forward.
The future belongs not only to those who are talented, but also to those who are prepared.
Leadership Begins With Leading Yourself
OYL also teaches an essential principle: before young people can lead others, they must first learn to lead themselves.
That includes taking responsibility for their decisions, their attitudes, their habits—and their health.
A true role-model leader does not inspire others only through words. Leadership is demonstrated through action.
A strong and healthy body supports an active and creative mind. Young people should therefore learn early to value nutritious food, regular physical activity, sufficient rest, and healthy daily routines.
Dreams require energy.
Ambitions require endurance.
Leadership requires both a strong mind and a healthy body.
Young leaders who learn to care for themselves today are better prepared to pursue their goals, overcome difficulties, serve others, and sustain their success tomorrow.
Preparing Today for a Future We Cannot Predict
The world our young people will inherit is changing rapidly. Their future will bring opportunities that may not yet exist and challenges that cannot yet be predicted.
We cannot prepare them for every situation they will encounter.
But we can prepare the person who will encounter those situations.
We can help them develop courage when circumstances become difficult, discipline when motivation disappears, wisdom when decisions become complicated, resilience when plans fail, and confidence when new opportunities arise.
This is the deeper purpose of the Outstanding Young Leader (OYL) Coaching Program at CEO Master Club—not merely to teach young people about leadership, but to help them begin living as leaders.
Because leadership does not suddenly begin when someone receives a title.
It begins with the habits they build, the choices they make, the challenges they learn to overcome, and the responsibility they accept today.
